Overview

In sleepy Cairo, a lingering dream of China’s reform and opening-up era hovers inside Sister Fang’s Chinese restaurant. Using the restaurant as her point of entry, Fang enters Cairo’s Chinese community and begins to learn the local rules of business. She invites Sister Hong, a masseuse, to join her and offers work and shelter to Ruma, a homeless Egyptian girl. Yet behind the restaurant’s façade, another hidden trade begins to take shape.
