Overview

Marcus helps friends escape from prison and leave Belgian territory. Because of this, he has been imprisoned on several occasions. It is a way of life, a faith, a moral code. He knows that at any moment he might be called upon for help—and that he will likely end up in custody—so he keeps a bag full of books with him, prepared for a stint in prison. Reading serves as his means of escape, and when he reads, he memorizes the words in the dictionary.
